The Enchanted Forest is the flagship property of the Brevard County EELs program and at 470 acres preserves 5 native Florida habitats, Oak Scrub, Hydric and Mesic Hammock, Wet Prairie, and Pine flat-woods. An education center features interactive displays, a small gift shop, rooms for environmental presentations, a screened patio, butterfly gardens, and an aquatic garden pond while nearby a massive ancient oak tree provides shade for a rustic outdoor auditorium. Hiking trails, including 1 universally accessible trail are present, while the Addison Ellis Canal offers insight into the unique geology of the area.

With 5 miles of trails interlacing the various habitats and networked together you can customize your hiking experience to your desired length. Be sure to get a trails map at the education center before you embark. Guided tours are available every Saturday at 10:00 am and can be arranged for other times with advanced notice. Cart tours can also be arranged while the paved universal trail starts at the education center and winds through woods ends at an Addison Canal Overlook providing two unique opportunities for physically challenged guests to experience the magic of this sanctuary. The Addison Ellis canal was an attempt to connect the St. Johns River to the west, with the Indian River Lagoon to the east in 1912 that stalled due to the expansive Atlantic Coastal Ridge coquina formation within the forest. Today this canal bears the look of a forested canyon with a small shallow creek trickling through the bottom. Look down into this canal to see the layers of coquina rock forming the foundation of the ridge, and ancient beach, an ancient beach sand dune formed 120,000 years ago when the climate was much warmer and much of Florida was underwater. The rest of the trails will guide you through the various habitats on the property and interpretive signage is present. A walking bridge will take you across the Addison Canal for another close up look at the canal while boardwalks will guide you through forested wetlands. When hiking the trails be on the lookout for various songbirds, whitetail deer, bobcat, turkey, bald eagle, barred owl, screech owl, red-shouldered hawk, coopers hawk, bobwhite quail, raccoon, armadillo, opossum, gopher tortoise, indigo snake, scrub lizard and more. This site is listed on the Great Florida Birding Trail.
